I'm watching Rudy Giuliani speak at the Republican National Convention. Smug, self-righteous bastard.
SO FUCKING AWFUL.
People actually buy this shit? Are you kidding me?
It makes me really scared, but mostly really sad.
"Drill, baby, drill," the crowd chants, like the brain-dead sheep they are. I am not going to compare with anything like, say, the Nazi's in the '30s, but....step one towards that?
Oh wait, here comes Sarah Palin (the gun-toting, homophobic NRA member with a pregnant 17 year-old)...
...and she has them all drooling like Pavlov's dogs.
"America"
(crowd drools and cheers)
"9/11"
(crowd drools and cheers)
"I'm a mayor."
(crowd drools and cheers)
"Nonsensical gibberish about fishing and eBay."
(crowd drools and yuks)
"Talking shit about Obama. Fabrications and rhetoric. Repetition of 'community organizer.'"
(crowd drools and claps)
thank god she stopped before I vomited all over my keyboard. Oh wait, here's McCain.

So, I’m curious, what part of Palin’s speech scared or made you sad in particular? The fact that she made some really good points about Obama’s lack of experience? You mentioned that her 17 year-old daughter is pregnant…. and your point there? Let’s see, she mentioned something about Obama’s plan to make government bigger by raising taxes, was that it? I don’t get that part about her being homophobic. Maybe I missed something. I guess she believes in the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman. How politically incorrect! It’s an outrage! And she hunts……. Whoopeeeee. She’s an outdoors type of woman. What’s not to like? Then there’s the war in Iraq and her being proud of her son and the fact that he’s deploying on 9/11. She mentioned that we’re winning the war in Iraq because of the surge…... And that Obama wants to negotiate and talk to terrorists without preset conditions. That he wrote 2 memoirs but didn’t take part in making any policies even while he was active in the Senate. OK, you should be sad about that. Yeah, anyone who speaks of actual pride in the U.S., love for family, the hard working blue collar business owners, workers and farmers, even being an advocate for mothers of the special needs kids…. Someone who will finally stand up to the greedy special interest groups and good old boys. Oh, and damn it all, she’s a pro-lifer because answering the question of when life begins is not above her pay grade. There are too many who think like you, dude. That kind of thinking totally makes me sad.
Palin's a governor, not a mayor. However, you do paint a picture with this piece. Well played.
Their evil drivel, laughing at Obama's qualifications, and his vision of hope and change....
Ass-holes.
God forbid we try to look towards a brighter future in the world--
They all reminded me of school-yard bullies. I just pray that the American public leans towards a brighter future....
First, are you so unconvinced by your own beliefs that you have to post as "anonymous"? Apparently so.
Bringing up Palin's lack of experience has been labeled "sexist," as if she's beyond reproach because of the mere fact that she's a woman. Let me suggest, then, that bringing up Obama's supposed lack of experience is therefore racist. Are ten years of experience in public office what you would call lacking? Then what would you call one and a half?
The point about the pregnant under-age daughter is simple. If you're going to stand on a platform of traditional values and conservatism, it seems a bit hard to swallow when your underage kid is pregnant...unless you think that's a good example of a traditional, down-home American family?
Obama's plan to raise taxes? Oh, you mean for huge corporations? They can afford it...American middle-class families can't, despite what McCain thinks "middle-class" is. You know what I'm talking about. $5 million income is middle-class? He's in a fantasy world.
You can believe in the sanctity of marriage and still be humane enough to extend that right to gay and lesbian couples. Those two things are not mutually exclusive.
She can be as proud as she wants all day long of her kids that she needlessly sends off to Iraq. Anybody who thinks we're "winning" the war there is totally delusional. There's not much about that whole situation to be proud of. Maybe you can't hear cries of despair of innocent civilians dying over there over the chantings of "USA! USA!"
Believe me, overseas people are not chanting "USA," unless it's followed by "go home."
By saying "pro-life," I assume you mean "anti-choice," as in women will no longer have the right to decide what happens to their own bodies in the context of their own lives.
So, clearly, there's plenty not to like, dude.
